We hear more about the negative effects of stress in our working lives in the newspapers nearly every week.
Whilst we're all aware that we suffer stress to a great or lesser degree, and can see the affect of it on other people, it's not always easy to see how we can reduce stress in our own lives.
Stress can affect us emotionally, physically or mentally.
Here's 7 tips for reducing stress in your life:-
Cut out drinking coffee and replace with herbal, fruit or green teas
Cut down on the salt in your diet - use less tinned food and more fresh
Take exercise - even adding 10-15 minutes walking a day can help. Walk instead of driving to the local shop or to collect the children from school. If you're working, take a walk in your lunch break.
Eat foods that are low G.I. (glycemic index). Although most people have heard of GI as part of a diet, it also helps identify foods that maintain stable blood sugars. Research has shown this is helpful in supporting the adrenal gland in managing your stress levels.
Get a varied diet - in particular, make sure you're eating plenty of foods rich in Vitamins B5,B6 and C, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
Try a ginseng supplement- it's believed that this can help manage your stress levels
Finally, enjoy time with family and friends. Dispel loneliness and enjoy laughter together.
Stress can have a long term negative effect on your health - don't ignore it, act today to improve your life.
